A brush fire at Silver Sands State Park in Milford Thursday burned nearly 30 acres of land.
Fire officials say they do not know, and may never know, what sparked the blaze. According to firefighters, the conditions were perfect for a brush fire.
The elements also worked in the firefighter's favor, however. Winds blew the flames toward the Long Island Sound, making it easier to extinguish the flames.
The site of the fire formerly served as the Milford city dump. According to firefighters, leftover debris caught fire and created additional smoke.
