A new dining option in Bridgeport is much more than just a restaurant, it also serves as a living classroom for kids who need a helping hand.
Meatball Heaven opened this past Monday and can be found at the Arcade Mall in downtown Bridgeport. Nearly all of its workers are considered at-risk youth from the Department of Children and Families.
Ranging in age from 16 to 21, the workers learn basic tasks such as chopping onions, in addition to staffing, budgeting and resume building.
The restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with carry-out orders being taken until 5 p.m.
