Stacey Footman, a New Haven man, is facing serious charges after attempting to steal a police cruiser and crashing it into a local church.
According to police, Footman jumped into the driver's seat and took off after one officer exited the vehicle, while another officer remained in the passenger seat.
The officer in the passenger seat managed to grab the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to crash into the church. Both Footman and the officer suffered minor injuries.
Footman has been charged with multiple offenses, including kidnapping. The incident is currently under investigation, and further details have not been released.
