The sound of bagpipes filled the streets of New Hyde Park on Sunday for a day of Irish pride.
The fire department hosted the village's annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
The celebration was a way for many families to honor their roots and share their culture.
"All people should celebrate their heritage and their backgrounds. Everyone is allowed to be Irish on St. Patrick's Day," said resident Jennifer Wynne.
The event was the village's fifth annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
