No deaths or injuries were reported in the collapse at the First Congregational Church in downtown New London.
Officials say the collapse happened around 1:30 p.m. New London police told the public to avoid the area.
Gov. Ned Lamont said he will continue to provide resources to assist with police response.
There’s no official report on how and why the collapse occurred.
