More serious charges have been filed in the hit-and-run that killed a woman on the Fourth of July in Fairfield.
State prosecutors Wednesday added a second degree manslaughter charge against Declan Kot.
Kot is accused of taking off after hitting Marileidy Morel Araujo as she walked her dog.
Police say he even went so far as to have his passenger side mirror replaced, and lied to the clerk at the auto parts store about what had happened.
In his original arrest warrant, police say Kot admitted drinking earlier in the day prior to the accident.
