Connecticut residents can now access a new online portal for those who need housing assistance due to the pandemic.
Housing officials say the website was created after their call center was flooded with calls. In turn, some callers say they experienced long wait times or busy signals.
In order to reduce such wait times, households impacted by COVID-19 can visit the DOH or the CHFA websites to determine if they meet the threshold for eligibility for these two programs.
The Temporary Rental Housing Assistance Program (TRHAP) offers rental assistance while the Temporary Mortgage Assistance Program (T-MAP) offers mortgage assistance for those struggling to pay their housing costs due to the job loss, reduction of work, furlough, or closing of business as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
