Newtown police say human remains were found in a wooded area off Edmond Road.
They say a person found the remains and called them Friday around 2:30 p.m.
Police, with assistance from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crimes and the Office of the Medical Examiner, are investigating this incident and working to identify the remains.
The preliminary investigation does not indicate any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
