NFL player Silas Redd Jr. hosted an event Saturday to benefit his hometown.
The Silas Redd Threads for the City clothing drive and swap was held at the George Washington Carver Community Center.
"This city helped me grow and be the person I am today, and I am thankful for it," Redd says. "I don't take it for granted, so I just wanted to give back."
The Washington Redskins running back is a self-proclaimed vintage clothing collector and says his love of clothes inspired the idea to host a clothing swap, where people could donate used clothing or take items they needed
Redd says he hopes to host the event every year and the clothes that are left over after it will be donated to local shelters.
