Some Connecticut residents donated part of their Thanksgiving Day to help adults with learning disabilities in Greenwich and Stamford.
Lolli Ross, executive director of Greenwich-based nonprofit organization Abilis, says she gladly gives up her time to spend the holiday with her adopted family - 36 men and women with profound learning disabilities.
?I've known many of these people, I've held them in my arms since they were babies, so they're near and dear,? Ross says.
Theo Brown is one of the developmentally challenged adults living in an Abilis apartment in Stamford. He says the organization has taught him that with the right training and hard work, he can one day manage on his own.
Abilis employees say they are currently facing a funding crisis and are asking people to donate their money or time.
