A 3-alarm fire tore through a house on Morton Street in Norwalk early Monday afternoon, leaving it a total loss, firefighters said.
The blaze spread quickly due to the house being packed with items stacked to the ceiling, according to Deputy Chief Jonathan Maggio.
"The occupant had already exited the dwelling and just very difficult conditions inside the building," Maggio said, noting crews switched to a defensive attack due to the structure's instability.
No one was injured in the incident.
