A Norwalk family and friends are safe this evening after rescue teams brought them and their out-of-control kayaks back to shore.
Marc Szabo says he watched helplessly at Calf Pasture Beach as strong winds and currents pulled his wife, kids and friends away from the island that they were hoping to picnic at.
Crews were able to reach the group and bring them back to safety.
Szabo says his family and friends have kayaked before, but were not used to being out in the sound and in tough weather conditions.
Rescue crews say that if you have any doubts about going out on the water it is best not to take the chance.
