The school held its second student vs. staff soccer game to fundraise for West Rocks' growing dual-language program.
"The money is so important to us because we have the opportunity to give our kids more exposure to things that come from communities that don't have it," dual language coordinator Sheila Chimento says. "It's a celebration of our teamwork, our spirit, and our cultural pride of Hispanic heritage month."
Principal Adam Reynolds says the school has been fundraising since Sept. 15.
"Whether it's Hispanic Heritage, Black History Month, or all of the other recognitions that we do," Reynolds says, "we want to make sure we lift up and celebrate and recognize all of the values that are important to people's lives here in the West Rocks community."
The students won Thursday's game by a score of 5-0.
