Norwalk police say there may be a link between the city's first homicide of 2012 and a separate murder investigation from 2010. Police say they found the dead body of Joseph Bateman last Friday on Riverside Walk near the Avalon Apartments. Witnesses say they heard gunfire, and the victim was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. Authorities say they are checking bus station security video to determine if the victim had arrived in Norwalk from another location. Bateman was previously known to police after being identified as a witness to the murder of Amos Brown Jr. Investigators also say he had been previously targeted.
