A Norwalk woman was arrested and accused of leaving her son unattended in a kiddie pool, which police said led him to become unconscious.
Carla Sanchez turned herself into police on Tuesday.
On July 12, police responded to a home on Vollmer Avenue for a report of an unresponsive 1-year-old.
Officials say that an officer met with the family and was immediately handed the child, who was unconscious, limp, and not breathing.
Police say the officer used his training to perform lifesaving measures. They say the child then threw up water and began to gasp for air. Within moments, the child regained consciousness and began to cry.
The boy was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to police.
An investigation found that Sanchez, who is the child's mother, left him unattended in a small kiddie pool along with another child at the time of the incident.
Sanchez is charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and is expected to appear in court on Sept. 9.
