The New York City Housing Authority has fired the chief of its elevator division, Ken Buny, after a faulty lift in the Boston Road Houses killed an elderly man on Christmas Eve.
NYCHA also announced Friday that it has reassigned five workers who failed to report concerns about the broken elevator.
Last month, a Department of Investigation report blamed the fatal accident on a communication breakdown and lack of oversight.
The incident was not the only one that put pressure on NYCHA. A faulty lift at the Morris Houses development a few weeks earlier broke a man's arm.
