A police response to a stabbing in East Flatbush led to a crash that sent several people to the hospital late Tuesday night.
Police say it happened just before midnight at the intersection of Clarkson Avenue and East 51st Street. An NYPD cruiser collided with an Acura while officers were heading to a stabbing call nearby. That crash also caused the Acura to slam into a parked car.
The impact bent and twisted a fence next to a deli on the corner. Across the street, the bumper from the other car could still be seen hours later.
A 21-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman who were inside the Acura were taken to the hospital, along with the two officers. Police say all four are expected to be OK.
Neighbors who witnessed the aftermath told News 12 they didn’t hear any sirens before the crash.
“I heard a loud bang,” said Norman, who lives nearby. “A gentleman was coming out the vehicle to the passenger side and when he went around, he was probably trying to get someone from there. Apparently something was wrong with his foot so he went across to sit down.”
Police have not confirmed whether the cruiser’s lights or sirens were on.
Authorities say the officers were responding to a stabbing at 165 Rockaway Parkway, where a 33-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and hand. He was taken to Brookdale Hospital and is stable.
So far, no arrests have been made in connection to the stabbing.
