After claiming victory on the Democratic side of the presidential race, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is set to face off against the presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), in the general election.

Obama immediately went on the offensive, casting McCain as a clone of President Bush and pointing out that his opponent has voted with the president?s policies 95 percent of the time.

McCain has countered with claims that Obama doesn?t have the experience to lead the country.

The two candidates now have about five months to make their cases to the American voters.

Regardless of the result in November, this will be a historic election. Sen. McCain would become the oldest first-term president, while Obama would be the first African-American to occupy the Oval Office. It has also been nearly 50 years since a sitting senator has been elected president of the United States.
