Fifty-one seniors were evacuated from the Elanor Apartments on Park Avenue in Bridgeport Wednesday after a water leak led to a power outage in the six-story senior building one day earlier, Bridgeport officials told News 12. "I am so glad we're going to be in a hotel tonight so I can get some sleep in peace in a place with electricity," said Willa Johnson, who lives in the complex run by the nonprofit New Neighborhoods INC. An out-of-service GBT bus brought the seniors to the Marriott in Trumbull, where they will stay until electricity can be restored to the building, officials said. A spokesman for New Neighborhoods Inc said the nonprofit moved quickly to address the problem. "We wanted to do what was best for the residents, and now we're just trying to make sure the residents are comfortable, make sure they're taken care of, getting their medications - all of those kind of things are being addressed," said Jerome Floyd, a spokesperson for the nonprofit.
