Officials: Car crash knocks out hydrant, floods home in Stratford
A car crash knocked out a fire hydrant, which flooded a home in Stratford.
The incident happened Thursday on Main Street next to a Merritt Parkway off-ramp.
The assistant fire chief says two cars crashed, and then hit a water hydrant which caused an underground pipe to leak.
Water traveled to the end of Charlotte Street and flooded a home’s garage and basement.
He says there was only minor flooding inside the home.
Homes on the street were without water last night.
At least one person was suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was taken to hospital, officials say.
