The body pulled out of the Long Island Sound has been confirmed by state officials Thursday to be that of missing Fairfield sailor Raymond Callan.
Callan, 57, was headed for Block Island from Bridgeport Saturday on his sailboat that was found abandoned off the coast of Milford later that day.
A medical examiner ruled the cause of death was drowning.
Callan was supposed to meet up with friends at the Fayerweather Yacht Club. Club members say Callan was an experienced sailor who often sailed alone.
Club members say they will plan a memorial in honor of Callan.
