Illegal fireworks are being blamed for sparking a fire at a condo complex in Fairfield, officials say.
The incident happened Thursday around 11 p.m. at 4021 Park Ave.
Officials say firefighters arrived on the scene and knocked down a fire behind one of five unit buildings.
Officials credit a sleeping resident who was awakened by the sound of the fire and quickly alerted her family and called 911.
The cause of the fire was the result of illegal fireworks shot off in the immediate area, officials confirmed.
Fairfield police say a man who lives at the condo complex was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and sale, use or possession of prohibited fireworks in connection to the incident.
