Norwalk investigators say a cigarette ignited the house fire Tuesday that killed a 62-year-old woman and critically injured her elderly mother. The blaze broke out Tuesday morning at the Sheffield Ridge Condominium Complex on Maple Avenue. The city's fire marshal says Judy O'Brien was smoking in bed. According to the fire marshal, O?Brien and her 92-year-old mother, Marjorie Johnson, became trapped and suffered smoke inhalation. O'Brien was discovered unconscious with severe burns. Family members say they are still in the process of making funeral arrangements.
