Bridgeport officials said Sunday that newly released surveillance video that shows a liquor store hold-up underscores the need for implementing Mayor Joe Ganim's anti-crime initiative as quickly as possible.
Officials say the armed robbery of King Discount Liquors on Barnum Avenue highlights the need for the quick implementation of the mayor's crime task force plan.
They say one of the key points of the plan is encouraging business owners to install bulletproof glass, which they say is a significant deterrent to violent crime.
Officials say had there been bulletproof glass at King Discount Liquors, the armed robbery would probably never have taken place.
Police say the robbers took $1,000 in cash from King Discount Liquors. They are asking anyone with information to contact them.
