A slashing at a shelter on the Grand Concourse has put two people in the hospital, according to law enforcement officials.
News 12 spoke with the wife of one of the victims, Destinee Melendez, who says that it all started with an argument involving another couple.
Melendez adds that she noticed her wife was bleeding from her head. Police say that she was taken to the hospital to treat a slash to her head, and another man was taken to the hospital with a slash to the ribcage.
"She was leaking blood. There was blood everywhere, there's still blood in that room," said Melendez about her wife, showing News 12 her own cuts and bruises from the incident. "It's just sad this is what we have to go through when we're looking for help."
Menendez says she's been kicked out of the shelter and is not sure where she'll stay next.
No arrests have been made at this time.
