Officials say it is important for first responders to get help when they go through a traumatic incident on the job.
Rev. John Revell is talking to police officers all over the state about scenarios they face every day in an attempt to help them heal and handle situations.
Revell specifically deals with state police and the Westport and Stamford police departments. He says it is important for officers to talk to someone about what they go through.
He says it's also a challenge for the families of emergency responders.
An off-duty New Haven police officer was shot Monday night when he responded to reports of shots fired.
