Omicron in NJ: Essex County makes vaccine push at mega sites

COVID-19 vaccination sites are open around the state offering vaccines and boosters now that the holiday season has begun.
News 12’s Keith Kocinski was at the Essex County mega vaccine site at the old Kmart building in West Orange.
Currently, it is unclear how effective vaccines are against the omicron variant. Moderna and Pfizer say it could take weeks to determine the effectiveness.
Doctors told News 12 it is still important to get vaccinated, practice good hygiene and to wear a mask when social distancing isn’t possible.
There are two other mega sites in Essex:
  • Essex County College in Newark
  • The old Sears building in Livingston.
Vaccines for ages 12 and older are available Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s open to kids ages 5-11 Monday to Friday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-5 a.m.
