A local organization is hoping to get donations for its community closet by holding a fundraiser later this month.
In recent months, Emily Close has given much of her free time to
Open Doors in Norwalk.
"Do something for my community that is a better use of my time than normally would be," she said.
Close decided to organize a fundraiser for April 28 at Blind Rhino in Norwalk where there will be raffles and different ways to donate.
"So, 100% of the proceeds are going to go to Open Doors shelter here in Norwalk, everything donated," Close said.
The fundraiser will also give people in the community an opportunity to help the nonprofit.
"One of the things that I've been told is a necessity right now would be clothing for young men and children," said Close.
The shelter has a community closet where those most in need can grab necessities for free.
There are plenty of larger sizes offered but the nonprofit is in need of donations of smaller sizes clothing items.
If you can't donate, the organization says there are other ways to get involved.
"Food for the food pantry or giving time to be part of our programs or even just coming down to Blind Rhino and having a great time," said Erin McDonough, community relations director.
The fundraiser will be held on Friday April 28 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Blind Rhino in South Norwalk.
