Opponents of the proposed highway connecting Norwalk and Danbury spoke out Tuesday against a survey backing the project that was released in September.
State Sen. Toni Boucher (R-Wilton) and 10 other elected officials claim the survey that showed a majority of people support the construction of Route 7 isn't accurate.
According to Boucher, residents in the area have rejected plans for the superhighway for more than 50 years because it would cause too many environmental and health problems, and its cost would be too high.
However, state Sen. Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) says public opinion has changed over the years, and more people support the project now.
