Orchard Beach officially opened to the public Saturday, and the place was packed.
For many Bronx residents, visiting Orchard Beach on Memorial Day weekend is a yearly tradition.
"Generation after generation, our moms, our grandmothers," said beachgoer Manny Vasquez. "Just all the time, this is where we basically come every year."
The beach was very energetic. People were there listening to music and dancing.
"It feels great, taking in the sun rays, enjoying the family, having a good time enjoying the music," said Vasquez.
