A pair of positive COVID-19 tests forced the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County to shut its doors at a time when donations are pouring in.
Two workers tested positive, forcing the director to make the decision to close for up to two weeks.
The director says the major places they supply have enough to make it through the holidays and that arrangements can be made to have donors deliver items if there is an urgent need. The food bank helps 90 smaller organizations.
"I know what it is like to need, and this is heartbreaking to me," says Kate Lombardo, of the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. "I know that we will prevail, that the community is behind us ... this too shall pass."
The facility and its trucks will be cleaned. The food bank says if you want to help,
donating money would be the best right now.
