Norwalk High School’s baseball team enjoyed the spotlight on Saturday, as the city honored
their recent state championship – a first in school
history.
Earlier this month, the
Bears defeated Westhill 1-0.
First-year head Coach
Ryan Mitchell says he challenged his team to compete at a high level day in and
out.
"Things can be accomplished if you just work your tail off and I think now
with all of this, they finally understand what I was talking about back in January,"
he told News 12.
After parading around
town they made their final stop at the Norwalk Green. There, Mayor Harry
Rilling proclaimed June 26, 2021 as “Norwalk High School
Baseball State Championship Day” in the city.
Coach Ryan Mitchell
says they're not looking to be a one hit wonder --- but want to stay on top for
a long time.
