Parents of a Shelton teen who died in a car accident earlier this year are fighting for his school to award an honorary diploma at graduation.
They say school officials are resistant to the idea.
Shelton's superintendent says he's offering an honorary diploma ceremony for the teen the day after graduation -- but the parents want him to be honored with the rest of his classmates on June 10.
Eddy Conklin, 17, was fatally thrown from his car on Bridgeport Avenue in February.
His parents, Barbara and Ed Conklin, say he was an honors student taking college preparatory classes who played varsity basketball.
They say it hurts that their request for an honorary diploma was denied.
"We feel it's an injustice, and we want the injustice rectified," Conklin's mother tells News 12.
