The family of a Bronx teen who was found dead in Brooklyn is filing a lawsuit in her death.
The family of Tiana Rice is planning to sue the NYPD and the city?s mortuary system for negligence. Rice?s mother says the NYPD bungled the search for Tiana when she was reported missing in December 2008.
Rice's parents say investigators did not notify them of their daughter's death for 35 days, although Tiana was reported missing the day her body was discovered in Brooklyn.
The medical examiner initially ruled Tiana died of natural causes, but her death was later ruled a homicide.
