A community in Stamford came together Saturday to celebrate the work done to remake a park that was once a haven for drug dealers.
Officials and community members came to Carwin Park to celebrate its grand re-opening.
?We have accomplished a great deal,? says one resident.
The children anxiously waited for the end of the ceremony to enjoy the park?s new water area.
?I like splashing people,? says one of the kids.
In the past people were known to frequent the park to smoke and fight, residents say.
Michael Pellici was once discouraged by what he would see at the park. Now, he?s very optimistic.
Pellici joined the Take Back Carwin Park Committee and worked to improve it.
?You have to keep your neighborhood looking good,? he says.
Stamford contributed $150,000 toward the park?s revitalization and building of the city's first water park.
