Shoppers in downtown Norwalk have just a couple more days of free parking before controversial new regulations go into effect.
Some local businesses are fuming over new parking regulations set to go into effect in the new year around the Wall Street section of the city. They say it's an added nuisance that's already driving people away.
Paying for parking is among the changes, at a rate of $.50 per hour. Another difference is reverse angled-in parking, rather than parallel parking. The parking design has drawn complaints that it is dangerous and backs up traffic.
Greenwich, Westport and Wilton have utilized angle-in parking, but reverse angle-in has caused some uproar.
Jason Milligan says the roll out of the new regulations were communicated poorly by the Parking Authority.
"Adding spaces to the street, which is what they did with the angle was excellent. If it was focused more on that and charging later, I think it could have went over better," he says.
News 12 reached out to the mayor's office and the Parking Authority, but no one was available for comment.
