An out-of-control SUV involved in a multivehicle accident on the Route 7 connector in Norwalk flipped over and slid down a hill Tuesday, leaving a passenger dead, officials say.
The fire department says the car rolled over and slid down an embankment at around 3 p.m. between exits 1 and 2. They say the slope was so steep that it complicated the rescue operation.
Rescuers were eventually able to extract two victims from the vehicle, but the 85-year-old passenger, Selma Spector, of Darien, was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital.
Several other cars were involved in the accident, but no one in those vehicles was seriously hurt.
State police are investigating.
