Two Stratford town employees were arrested for allegedly selling drugs.
Police say Patrick Ambrose, of Stratford, and Todd Whitlock, of Milford, are public works employees.
In a news conference Thursday, Stratford Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour said the two men were arrested after a recent investigation into drug activity in the town.
Ridenhour says some of the sales of cocaine and oxycodone took place during work hours and on town property. Both employees have been suspended from their jobs.
Stratford Mayor John Harkins says he is outraged at the behavior. He says his office and police do not feel public safety was ever compromised.
Harkins also says they recently used police dogs to sniff out all public works properties for drugs.
Ambrose is charged with illegal narcotics sales and sales within 1,500 feet of a school. Whitlock is also charged with illegal narcotics sales.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
