A missing kayaker has been located after their overturned kayak was found Monday afternoon floating in the Housatonic River in Derby, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says.
Along with the kayak, officials found a jacket, an oar and an electronic navigation device.
DEEP says an EnCon officer located the man at this home Monday night.
Officials say the man fell into the river, lost his cellphone and drove home to get warm.
DEEP is reminding people to wear a personal flotation device when out on the water.
The agency says if people are separated from their vessel and arrive on shore, they should call police or DEEP to let them authorities know they are safe.
