One person was taken to the hospital after their car struck a residential building in Milford on Thursday.

Fire officials said the accident happened on Gulf Street just around 3:40 p.m. and when help arrived, the driver was still in the vehicle. Due to the close nature of the impact to the building's gas meter, the utility company was called out to evaluate any damages.

The Milford Building Department was notified as well, where it reviewed minimal damage on the inside and deemed the building safe to occupy.

There is no word on what caused the crash or the condition of the person involved.
