After facing major pushback from residents, a dog hospital and hotel is changing its plans once again.
the owners of Spot On Veterinary Hospital and Hotel in Stamford have their eyes set on a property on Post Road in Fairfield.
If approved, they won't be able to use a large amount of outdoor space, according to the adjusted plans.
After neighbors near the property caught wind that a dog hotel might be coming to the area, they brought up concerns, including, smell, noise and dog bites.
"We're just not willing to gamble because once this gets built and it's there, then we're responsible for policing it," said neighbor Carol Radice-Stein.
In the owner's latest plan presented Tuesday at a town meeting, they have removed any outdoor play for dogs and only one small outdoor area will be used where one four-legged friend on a leash will use the bathroom at a time.
Dr. Philip Putter says the additional change was a tough one to make, but he is holding onto the bigger picture.
"Despite that fact that we've had to compromise what our goal was, we're still staying true to where our heart is in this business and making it come to the town anyway," said Putter.
The next town meeting regarding the issue is set to take place on March 14.
