Plans to build a casino in Bridgeport are moving ahead.

MGM wants to build a casino and hotel on the city's waterfront. Late this afternoon, a state committee voted to allow MGM to bid on a new casino license.

The bill was in jeopardy Friday morning after committee leadership refused to hold a vote on it, but it was passed with one major change - Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun will still be allowed to develop their own casino near Hartford.

It is unclear if MGM will move ahead in Bridgeport under those conditions.
