Two alleged drug dealers were arrested Saturday following an overnight raid that took a large quantity of drugs and ammunition off Bridgeport streets, police say.
Authorities arrested 31-year-old Darius Gamble and 28-year-old Vivian Rodriguez.
Investigators say a house on George Street was a major intersection for drug dealers and drug buyers from across the region.
Officials say they found 133 grams of crack-cocaine, 410 grams of marijuana and more than $40,000 in profits from the drug business when they raided the house Saturday.
Neighbor Edward Maldonado says the neighborhood is not known for drug dealing. "It's a really quiet street, nothing really happens here," he says.
Investigators say the partners were running a "sophisticated" operation that flew below the radar until they received a tip.
Bridgeport Police Chief A.J. Perez says residents have a basic right "to be able to walk the streets of the city of Bridgeport." He adds, "You can't have that when you have this kind of operation going."
Police say they also seized a Porsche SUV and a BMW sedan. They say each suspect is being held under a $100,000 bond.
