Bridgeport police said Thursday they've arrested three men and seized more than 1,000 bags of heroin packaged and ready for sale.

They say Joel Jean, 29, Scott Simillen, 30, and Jamel Jacobs, 33, all of Bridgeport, appeared in Superior Court Thursday. Investigators say Jean was a mid-level dealer who was free on parole while running a local operation in Fairfield County, selling bundles of heroin between $500-$600. 

Additionally, investigators said they seized over a pound of marijuana, illegal guns and more than $3,000 in cash. They say they also confiscated a Honda Sedan used to transport the drugs.

Bridgeport police tell News 12 Connecticut they seized all of the contraband around 6 p.m. Wednesday at a Black Rock home, following an investigation that stretches back to the beginning of the summer. They said the raid was a cooperative effort between their agency, the FBI, state police and the Darien Police Department.

Mayor Joe Ganim commended the officers who worked on this case. 

"It's clear to me, because of your efforts, that a message has gone out and it's probably going to make your job harder to apprehend because they're probably going to be ducking down," he says. "The good news is they're not going to be out there shooting as much."

The judge set bond for the suspects at $75,000 each and the men are due back in court in September.
