Bridgeport police are searching for the person who abused a 4-month-old puppy now under the care of SPCA of Connecticut in Monroe.
SPCA Director Frederick Acker says a Good Samaritan rescued the puppy, Molly, Thursday after seeing someone try to sell her on the street in Bridgeport. Handlers say the pit bull is being treated for sarcoptic mange, a serious health condition. They say it is characterized by missing hair and bleeding scabs.
Officials say the puppy's health condition is caused by severe neglect, abuse and sun exposure.
SPCA says the puppy won't be able to be adopted for at least another two months. They are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the previous owner.
