Police: Ax-wielding man faces charges in Fairfield chase

Authorities say they found Orlando Roper, from New York, behind his vehicle parked near an adjacent business, brandishing an axe.

Authorities say a man who was wielding an ax is facing charges in a chase in Fairfield Tuesday night.
Police say they responded to a report of a suspicious individual at Hemlock Hardware on Post Road around 11 p.m..
Authorities say they found Orlando Roper, from New York, behind his vehicle parked near an adjacent business, brandishing an axe.
They say Roper then ran crossing the train tracks on I-95 before he was surrounded by police.
Authorities say he then dropped the ax and was taken into custody.
He was charged with breach of peace and interfering with officers.
