The fugitive who fled a Trumbull apartment complex with a female hostage Wednesday may have had help from his mother as a getaway driver, according to police.
Officers had blocked off an area around the Royce Apartments complex around 3 p.m., where they said the man was holding a woman at gunpoint.
Police entered the apartment at 5:30 and found that the suspect and the hostage were gone.
Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez said the man fled in a white Dodge Charger -- possibly driven by his mother.
Authorities lifted a lockdown at the complex about a half hour later. The nearby Fairchild Wheeler school was also locked down for a time.
The suspect is out on parole and has a number of prior convictions, police said. They were considering him armed and dangerous.
Officers from Bridgeport, Shelton and Fairfield were assisting Trumbull police in the operation.
