A bicycle rider in Stamford was critically injured after he was hit by a pickup truck shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the truck was trying to make a left turn from East Main Street when it struck the bike going in the opposite direction.

The bike rider is being treated at Stamford Hospital.

The driver was issued a ticket for making an improper turn.

Police urge witnesses to come forward while they investigate.
