Bridgeport police say the man suspected of shooting his wife and then himself on Friday has died.
Investigators say 53-year-old Wilson Ripoll shot himself in the head after shooting his wife in the face. According to police, the shooting occurred Friday morning on Chase Street, in front of the couple's young daughter.
Police say Ripoll's wife was able to call 911 for help after the shooting. News 12 has been told her condition is improving at the hospital, but she's not yet well enough to speak with police.
Bridgeport police say they are close to wrapping up their investigation into the case.
Police Chief AJ Perez says he hopes the case will encourage those suffering from domestic violence to seek help.
"Anytime an incident of domestic violence occurs, not only does it affect the people who are involved, but it really affects the entire community," he says.
