Police: Bridgeport woman struck and killed by car while walking on Route 8 in Shelton

State Police say the 32-year-old woman from Bridgeport was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say the woman, later identified as Joan Marie Forgas, 32, of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a car on Rt. 8 in Shelton. 
A woman was struck and killed by a car while walking on Route 8 in Shelton, police say.
State Police say the woman, later identified as Joan Marie Forgas, 32, of Bridgeport, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Forgas was struck and killed by a car in the northbound lane near Exit 13 after leaving her Jeep, which was parked in between the right lane and shoulder of the roadway.
State Police say Forgas was struck by a 2008 BMW, which also hit her Jeep.
The driver of the BMW was not injured.
Police say they do not know why Forgas left her vehicle.
